The Workplace Learning Link with the long range goal of successful employment was designed to identify and to develop a customer’s career requirements. The Link as it is affectionately called provides basic skills, literacy skills, employability and workplace skills, as well as GED testing to those who require these proficiencies to move forward in their education and/or employment. The Link recognizes the need to deliver these services to those who seek improved literacy skills and to those who wish to fulfill a variety of personal goals, such as self-fulfillment, citizenship and achieving family literacy. Through individualized computer-based programs in reading, mathematics, language, career, and life skills the customer becomes competitive in the job market or capable of entering a training program.
The Workforce Learning Link requires a sixth grade reading level and the customer’s attendance five days a week. Daily contact with the Workforce Learning Link instructor and counselor reinforces the customer’s self-esteem and empowers the customer with the necessary confidence to excel in the job market. With improved overall skills the customer is prepared to gain a level of independence and self-sufficiency.
Stepping into the Workplace Learning Link ultimately enriches the lives of customers through career advancement and life-long learning.
The Link’s offerings are FREE for anyone legal to work in the United States. Available hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
